my personal research agenda:
Ceilings to Automation in the Service Sector
- investigating expertise in the service sector,
- modelling how human interaction is part of the product, and how to incorporate consumer preferences for human production
Baby Bonds and Dynamic Demographics:
A Study of Mother’s Labor Market Behavior
(econometrics class project with Madeleine Pierce, Wellesley '28)
tl;dr
1. we evaluate Connecticut’s Baby Bonds policy, which allocates $3,200 into a trust account for each child born after July 1, 2023
2. although a differences-in-differences
model shows a significant wage decline among eligible Connecticut mothers, event
study evidence suggests this reflects pre-existing downward income trends
3. we analyze it in the framework of labor-market
polarization, showing that compositional instability within the eligible group undermines the validity of the triple-difference estimates.
